getting-started

How can I access Market Indices like the TICK.Z, TRIN, ADD, VIX, TYX, TNX, PREM etc.

Access to Market Breadth Indices and other Statistics like the TICK.Z, TRIN, ADD, VIX, TYX, TNX, PREM etc., are available at an additional cost if you are using DTN IQfeed or ESignal for real time data. To add these to your account, you will have to contact them directly. If you are feeding Investor/RT with a broker feed and using DTN Market Access for historical data, you may notice that these indices are available by downloading them but the data is not flowing in real time.

Investor/RT Configuration

Setting up InvestorRT for Forex markets

Below are the market hours for Forex (US/Eastern).

The highest volume / most activity is found during the periods where the markets overlap (seen below). For this reason, these periods are generally considered the best times to trade.

Why do long term @ES# charts show different prices in prior months than other charting services?

Investor/RT uses DTN premium adjusted continuous contract historical data while other charting products are likely using the raw @ES# continuous contract historical data. The adjusted contract is premium adjusted so that charting of price on front month rollover days is smooth, no discrete gap up that has to do with time premium and little to do with market sentiment. We provide a means to turn off this default behavior in Investor/RT using a configuration variable.

License Activation and Subscription Management

License Codes defined

A license code is an 18-digit number that you enter into the License Activation window in Investor/RT (File > License...). The number remains in effect as long as you continue as a subscriber. The license code tells Investor/RT which product and features you have licensed at any point in time.

Retrieve your License Code

Login to the Linn Software web site using your email address and password. If you do not know your password, request a new one. Once logged in, your Licenses, Subscription, and Billing information are all readily available for viewing.

Identifying Symbol Groups in QuotePages

We'll need to create a scan that we'll use to set a T# variable (we'll just use T#1 in our case) to the name of the quotepage (or something close to that name). We'll assume for this example that you have 3 quotepages with names of "GroupA", "GroupB", and "GroupC". The syntax of our scan will be as follows: SET(T#1, GroupA)

How are Forex symbols setup for the Interactive Brokers data source?

The IB Version now supports improved setup and chart backfill for currency pairs, e.g. EUR.USD, JPY.USD, etc. When adding such instruments via the Setup: Instruments window. choose "Forex" as the security type. IRT automatically sets up the Underlying Symbol and the Currency for the instrument by extracting this information from the ticker symbol, e.g. the ticker EUR.USD results in EUR as Underlying and USD as currency.

How do I setup a forex instrument with IB and IDEALPRO exchange?

When using Interactive Brokers ( IB ) with Investor/RT, there is a simple setup and chart backfill for currency pairs, e.g. EUR.USD, JPY.USD, etc. When adding such instruments via the Setup: Instruments window. choose Forex as the security type. Investor/RT automatically sets up the Underlying Symbol and the Currency for the instrument by extracting this information from the ticker symbol, e.g. the ticker EUR.USD results in EUR as Underlying and USD as currency.
